The lovely and talented, Ms.
Karen Schwettman, proprietor of
Indigo Fox
, just inside FoxTale Book Shoppe, and one of the three
FoxTale Foxes, selects the following as her Picks of The
Year.
For
Fiction:
<the envelope, please!>
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
The Night Circus is a magical place that I never wanted to
leave. The story is spellbinding, the writing exquisite.
Imaginative and graceful in the telling. “Opens at dusk and
closes at dawn.” Experience the magic.
Currently playing in FoxTale’s
window! Come see Stevie Turner's
exquisite display and hear us rave about this
great story.
.
For Non Fiction: Praying for Strangers by
River Jordan.
Every now and then a book comes along that inspires me to
shout out to the world: Stop talking about how bad things
are and DO something about it! Change begins with one
person. Us. That’s what it takes to change the world.
This book is the inspiration. Don’t think this book is
“religious” or “preachy.” Far from it. This story is real,
true, how one woman began looking outside herself and prayed
for one stranger each day. The results? Amazing,
inspiring, hopeful, humorous, heart-wrenching, and
courageous. This is a book to treasure and to give away.
The perfect Christmas gift. Want hope? Peace on earth?
Here it is.
The beautiful and talented Fox, Ellen Ward, concurs with
Karen's top picks! "Night Circus gets an A+
for creativity, and Praying for Strangers cannot
be touched when it comes to honest, inspiring memoir."
Ellen adds, "Here are an additional four reads that
reached the ultimate wow-level, providing hours
of entertainment and food for thought. Hats off to
these talented authors who penetrated my reading world in a
highly significant way."
