Description

From Enos Slaughter's Mad Dash from first to home to win the 1946 World Series, to the meteoric rise and fall of Mark 'The Bird' Fidrych, one of the greatest pitching talents of all time and the disappearance of the St. Louis Browns, this book presents fifty articles about major players and events in Major League Baseball, both historical and contemporary. The articles, 1,000 to 2,500 words each, of interesting and entertaining facts and opinions, are designed to be enjoyed in short periods of down time as the title suggests. Volume I of this series was called 'Another Grand Slam for Carl Johnson' by one reviewer. This book will entertain anyone from the most avid baseball fan to the casual follower of the game. Subjects include Ron Guidry, Louisiana Lightning, Ted Williams and Stan Musial, Ernie Banks, Mr. Cub, and many of the more exciting and suspense filled World Series and Playoffs and many more. The ideal book for the baseball fan and the ideal Christmas or Birthday gift for the baseball fan on your list.
