Camping in the wilderness with kangaroos and snorkeling through the coral of Ningaloo Reef introduced Leeann Murphy to travel at an early age. Such adventurous vacations in the great outdoors of western Australia only whetted her appetite for travel. It was a visit to a Balinese village at age 10 that really ignited Leeann's passion to venture off the beaten path and explore the delights of world cultures. Years later, with a degree in health promotion and a bevy of project management, research, and writing skills under her belt, opportunities to work with young people in Myanmar, Sri Lanka, and rural Australia came Leeann's way. Although these experiences satisfied the traveler within, the long working hours had Leeann searching for change. After the untimely death of her father in 2009, Leeann realized life was too short to stay still, and as an avid bellydancer, she went on to paint a new life canvas where travel and dance took center stage. Through this, she found her second home in Turkey--and she's been feasting on the smorgasbord of attractions the country has to offer ever since. Today, friends consider Leeann "Austolian" (half Australian, half Anatolian), and her life has never been so full of color, creativity, and adventure. From hot air ballooning in Cappadocia to baking bread and milking goats in a Kurdish village, Leeann's Turkish experiences have led her to become a local expert and roving writer for Moon Travel Guides and Afar.com.
